We Do Organic!

That's right, at Pickled Pear Media we do organic - Organic Social Media (as opposed to paid social.)

So why Pickled Pear Media as our business name? Well, it's very much like organic social! huh? I hear you ask.

You make your way to the shop to buy pears. When you get home you put them in the bowl and you eat one. The next day, you eat another… and as the days go, they become less appealing. Then the weekend hits and you're out for most of it, forgetting about the pears in the bowl and very shortly they're rotten and stale - organic pears don't last very long if they're left in a bowl.  However, if you pickle your pears, add spices and preserve them in a jar, they last longer, but you will need to be prepared with a list to buy the right ingredients if you want delicious long lasting pickled pears.

Just like social, you start by creating your profile, adding some pics and posts. It's all top of mind at the beginning, but eventually that novelty wears off (you realise it's not that easy and it's time consuming) and you're no longer posting. Your social media presences goes stale, no new followers and no engagement. You can keep on posting the same ol' thing because it's easy, becoming invisible or simply interrupting people on social.

Organic Social Media is the free posts, stories, reels and videos that we all add to our social media channels and it's free. Paid Social is exactly that, paid advertising on social media, and it's more than just clicking that 'boost' button - it helps us reach beyond our families and friends in faster and targeted form, but all for a price.

Is one better than the other? No, they are both essential and serve a different purpose. One is very direct, targeting very specific and defined audience… it's advertising or sponsored content. The other is a long-term authentic customer relationship tool that appears on your feed.

Whilst paid social will increase your reach, customers prefer organic and authentic content. Organic is what builds customers' trust. According to Yotpo (an ecommerce marketing company), 77% of shoppers actually prefer customer photos over professional photos. The authenticity and the rawness of a photo helps to build that trust.

Maintaining a strong, or even just a good presence on social, takes planning. If you plan for the long term and understand the ingredients and algorithms of each channel, you'll grow on social organically. As we all know in business, good planning makes good sense (or “cents”) and that's where Pickled Pear Media can become an asset when it comes to Organic Social Media.
